Week of Events Surround Anaheim's 150 Kick-Off

 

ANAHEIM, Calif. - (October 2, 2006) - From the Anaheim 150 Kick-Off to the opening of the Family Justice Center, there is plenty to do in Anaheim this week. Mark your calendars and enjoy music, food, sports and more.

The week begins with the opening of the Anaheim Family Justice Center on Tuesday, October 3. The Center is the first of its kind in Orange County and co-locates many resources to effectively and efficiently address domestic violence, child abuse, elder/dependant abuse and sexual assaults. The event begins with a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony at noon followed by an open house from 12:45 - 4 p.m. The Anaheim Family Justice Center is located at 150 W. Also on October 3, the city-owned Arrowhead Pond becomes Honda Center.  The announcement will take place at a press conference at noon at Honda Center, located at 2695 E. Katella Ave.

Wednesday, October 4, join Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle at the 2006 Mayor's Prayer Breakfast, featuring syndicated radio host Dennis Prager.  This annual event is an opportunity for the community to get involved and hear what leading citizens have to say. The breakfast takes place at 7 a.m. in the Anaheim Convention Center Arena located at 800 W. Anaheim's landmark 150th Anniversary celebration kicks off on Thursday, October 5 with a day full of activities in the City's historic Downtown Colony District. The celebration will include a City Hall Open House and a free evening concert featuring American Idol finalists Ace Young, Kimberly Caldwell and the homecoming of Anaheim's own Lisa Tucker. Pucks will fly on Friday, October 6, as the Anaheim Ducks open their 14th season in the National Hockey League (NHL) at home versus the Los Angeles Kings at 7:05 p.m. at Honda Center. Tickets may be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (714) 703-2545.

On Saturday, October 7, Tiger Woods will host the 2006 Tiger Woods Junior Golf Exhibition and the second TWLC Block Party. The exhibition will take place at Tiger Woods Learning Center at 8:15 a.m. This year's Block Party event includes an evening at The Grove of Anaheim with cocktails, a gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions and a unique musical performance by The Eagles' Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and friends.
