Christine Chapman has been promoted to CMUA Director of Events and Membership, effective July 1.

Christine joined CMUA in 2016 to manage the association’s events and membership. In her role, she oversees all CMUA events, workshops, and board meetings.

During the past five years, she has worked closely with members and staff to increase membership, resulting in 17 new utilities joining CMUA in the past five years. In 2017, she was a member of the internal team that redesigned CMUA’s website, and she managed the design and development of a new membership database alongside a new member web portal, providing an access point to CMUA resources and event registration.  In 2020, she led an initiative to design, develop and launch CMUA’s new OnDemand Webinars Series, which provides members with access to an online library of recorded educational videos on a wide range of topics presented by industry experts, Associate Partners, and CMUA members.

Christine is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America with a bachelor’s degree in both culinary arts management and culinary science. She also received her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation through the Convention Industry Council. She has more than 20 years of experience in management of nonprofits, trade associations and joint powers agencies representing both private entities and public agencies.

“Christine’s efforts have been integral in growing the CMUA membership, improving member engagement, and expanding the quality and breadth of the many services that CMUA provides to members,” said Barry Moline, CMUA executive director. “She has taken on many new responsibilities, and I’m delighted to work with Christine as she elevates CMUA services to the highest level.”
