Barry Moline, executive director of the California Municipal Utilities Association (CMUA), said the following about the Governor’s newest drought-related directives.
Drought is here and is impacting every facet of our state’s economy and environment. CMUA member agencies, which collectively provide water service to nearly 75% of California, are taking action to address the needs of their communities. We appreciate the Governor’s tailored approach, including his call at this time for a voluntary water use reduction rather than an across-the-board mandate. CMUA looks forward to working with Governor Newsom and his Administration to ensure safe and reliable water supplies throughout the state.
The California Municipal Utilities Association (CMUA) represents 72 publicly owned electric utilities and water agencies that together provide electric service to 25% of California and water service to nearly 75% of the state.
