SACRAMENTO, Calif. (January 13, 2025) - A statement from CMUA Executive Director Danielle Blacet-Hyden:

CMUA and its members are deeply grateful to the many thousands of firefighters, emergency personnel, and volunteers who are tirelessly battling the wildfires in the Los Angeles area and protecting lives and property during this crisis. Their courage and selflessness in the face of danger inspire us all, and our hearts are with those who have been impacted by this tragedy — the families who have lost their homes, the businesses facing disruption, and the individuals enduring unimaginable hardship.

Utility personnel in the affected communities and throughout California continue to work diligently around the clock to maintain and restore safe and reliable water, wastewater, and power service for their customers. Utility crews are responding expeditiously to outages and are repairing critical infrastructure in challenging conditions; that essential work will continue 24/7 until completed.

In moments like these, community-owned power, water, and wastewater utilities stand together. We will continue to support one another with compassion and resolve and provide mutual aid and other essential resources to the utilities and local communities impacted by this tragedy. Together, we will rebuild and emerge stronger than before.
