Customer Relations & Marketing Manager
The City of Vernon offers an outstanding career opportunity for an energetic leader and high caliber professional who is well-versed and has tangible experience with customer service, incentive program development, marketing, outreach, and regulatory requirements as they relate to public utilities, public policy, and municipal functions, to serve as the Customer Relations and Marketing Manager.  The ideal candidate is someone who has the ability to lead others and inspire confidence while carrying out the mission, vision and goals of the both the City and VPU.  The ideal candidate should be an experienced leader, possessing both the technical industry expertise and extensive knowledge in utility service, customer relations, program administration and development as well as being an accomplished communicator. The ideal candidate is someone who is progressive and solutions-oriented and can develop and administer all Division work and projects through the lens of achieving City and utility goals. Possess a dynamic, service-oriented personality, with the capability to work with all City Departments and customers, the capacity to process information quickly, and ability to communicate effectively.

Job Summary
Under general supervision, leads, directs and manages the Customer Service Division of the City’s Public Utilities (PU) Department; manages PU customer service billing and metering, customer rebate and incentive program development, utility marketing and outreach, and key account management. Serves as the Public Information Officer, Media Liaison and Marketing Manager for VPU as well as the City.

Requirements Required Training, Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Marketing or closely related field; AND seven years of progressively responsible experience in development and coordination of public information, community affairs, marketing and communications programs and activities, including four years of supervisory and customer relations experience.  Experience in a public agency is preferred.
 
License and Certification Requirements
A valid California State Driver's License is required.
