The Principal Water Engineer will assist in the development of and maintenance of assigned budgets, ensure the performance of contracts and consultants, supervise and mentor employees, and coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies. Ideal candidates will possess experience with water resources reporting and water supply planning from a public water utilities agency and/or a private firm that works with a water utilities agency.<br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /> &nbsp; <ul style="box-sizing: border-box; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px;" type="disc"> <li style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: inherit;">Oversee long- and short-term planning, water demand and supply forecasting, analysis of impact of regional agency actions on the City&rsquo;s water supply and development of water supply projects. Conducts technical analysis and assists with policy development and planning of regional water resources issues, water supply projects and implementation of water management programs.</li> <li style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: inherit;">Review plans, studies and reports prepared by consulting engineers and private developers to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations. &nbsp; Coordinate the review of Environmental Impact Reports and Water Supply Assessments.</li> <li style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: inherit;">Plan, conduct, manage, and/or oversee the development of various water resources reports including, but not limited to: annual water loss, water use efficiency, annual water supply assessments, and Urban Water Management Plan. Develop and update various spreadsheet for tracking and reporting water resources data.</li> <li style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: inherit;">Participate in water supply budget preparation and administration; prepare and submit budget recommendations; and monitor and control expenditures. &nbsp;Oversee water resources data management and reporting and processing payments for water production and payment; and review proposed budgets for regional water suppliers and evaluate impacts to City&rsquo;s budget.</li> <li style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: inherit;">Prepare regional, state and federal grants; monitor and track application requests and approved grant programs. &nbsp;Prepare agreements with other agencies as needed.</li> <li style="box-sizing: border-box; list-style-type: inherit;">Participate in the evaluation and long-term planning of water system improvements to ensure adequate water is available for new or redeveloped areas of the City; perform special water system studies; review and update water rules as necessary.</li> </ul> &nbsp;<br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /> <span style="box-sizing: border-box; font-weight: 700;"><u style="box-sizing: border-box;">When Assigned to Water Capital Engineering:</u></span><br style="box-sizing: border-box;" /> The Principal Civil Engineer will oversee a staff of project managers that designs, bids, funds, and coordinates the construction of Anaheim&#39;s water projects, such as pipelines, wells, treatment plants, and pump stations. &nbsp;The Principal Civil Engineer will assist in the development of and maintenance of assigned budgets, ensure the performance of contracts and contractors, supervise and mentor employees, and coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies.
