The City of Anaheim Public Utilities Department seeks a dynamic, self-driven Resource Programs Specialist I or II with an emphasis on community education and outreach to oversee programs that educate our community on the importance of water and energy conservation, renewable resources and overall sustainability. The Resource Programs Specialist will administer program contracts, develop and implement sustainability programs, and plan and conduct educational presentations in a workshop, classroom and community event format using various types of media.  The Resource Programs Specialist will be a team player who performs a variety of responsible professional level staff duties in the development, implementation and monitoring of residential and commercial utilities public benefit and conservation programs for the Public Utilities Department.  The candidate will recommend and implement changes to existing educational program offerings while conducting analysis to ensure goals and objectives are being met in order to determine current and future educational outreach programs. Candidate will collaborate with Anaheim's community partners to develop materials for K12 students and other targeted groups. As a public face of Anaheim Public Utilities, the ideal candidate must be outgoing, creative, innovative,  engaging, and eager to collaboratively develop and foster relationships to grow our programs; comfortable with public speaking and engagement opportunities with people of all ages in various settings. This exciting and engaging position will oversee community events that may occasionally take place during the evenings or weekends. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing demands with the ability to quickly adapt to the needs of the City of Anaheim Public Utilities Department.

Candidates must possess one year (for Resource Program Specialist I) or at least two years (for Resource Program Specialist II) of progressively responsible professional education, sustainability, and energy and water resource efficiency program management, supplemented by a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, business, public administration, community relations, marketing, or a related field.  An equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  Ideal candidates will possess experience with identifying creative ways to engage and educate the public with an emphasis on the youth and underserved audiences. Bilingual in Spanish is highly desired, but not required.
The Resource Programs Specialist II is distinguished from the Resource Programs Specialist I entry level class by the performance of the full range of tasks and duties assigned to employees within the series.

The City of Anaheim reserves the option to hire at either the Resource Program Specialist I or Resource Program Specialist II level based on candidate qualifications and selection process.
