Senior Product Development Specialist
The City of Anaheim Public Utilities Department seeks a Senior Product Development Specialist to provide supervisory and technical expertise in the development, research and recommendation of new cost effective, energy efficient, products and services for Anaheim businesses and residents. Anaheim Public Utilities' mission is to add value to the community through a customer-focused approach to providing reliable, high-quality water and power at affordable rates.
Candidates must possess at least six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in the development and acquisition of technical services and products in the electric utility industry, supplemented by a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business, electrical engineering, public administration, or a related field. Competitive candidates will also possess at least two (2) years of administrative and supervisory experience.

| ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: |
The following functions are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed functions and/or may be required to perform additional or different functions from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

Conduct research into cost effective energy efficiency measures that will provide residential, commercial, and industrial electric utility customers with new and innovative energy efficient products; prepare and distribute surveys and analyze results; prepare program proposals and cost analysis and track results of program implementation.

Design and participate in focus groups discussing technical product needs and development potential; compile and analyze collected information; prepare narrative and statistical reports of findings.

Research, develop, and acquire energy efficiency products and services; verify product claims, establish monetary incentive levels.

Recommend and assist in the implementation of energy efficiency and demand reduction goals and objectives; establish policies and procedures, schedules, and methods for providing incentives; implement energy efficient and demand reduction programs.

Work with outside consultants, developers, vendors, and internal staff to develop innovative marketing strategies and communication tools to reach appropriate customers for programs and services offered.

Develop new and innovative technical means to deliver high speed, customer valued technical products and services through the internet and other electronic media.

Prepare and negotiate contract agreements with customers and/or marketing consultants; monitor agreements in place; ensure terms of agreements are met.

Supervise and participate in market research regarding energy efficient and demand reduction measures, products, and services for residential, commercial, and industrial customers; develop and/or acquire measures, products, and services that maximize public benefits and revenues to the City.

Participate in the design of electric rates that lead to customer attraction and participation in energy efficiency measures and programs; conduct research regarding new rates.

Supervise and participate in the development and implementation of new retail energy efficient and demand reduction measures.

Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets.

Perform related duties as required.
