Journey Lineman
Lassen Municipal Utility District ("LMUD") is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Journeyman Lineman.
Position Summary
Responsible for the installation and maintenance of the electrical power within the District.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Receives direct supervision from Line Crew Foreman, General Foreman, Electric Superintendent and Electric Operations Manager.
SAMPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Constructs and maintains overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems.
- Installs and connects equipment on lines such as transformers, switches, cutouts, capacitors, lightning arresters, streetlights, etc.
- Installs poles, anchors, crossarms, insulators and string wire.
- Installs vaults, conduits, and pulls conductor.
- Terminates cable systems on poles, transformers, switching equipment and in valuts.
- Installs distribution substation equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, disconnects buswork, etc.
EXTERNALS CUSTOMERS
- Utility Customers: Meets with and attempts to resolve problems, provide advice and assistance and promotes District programs, plans and objectives.
- General Public: Attempt to maintain a good working relationship with all contacts, customers, and employees.

Requirements:
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have successfully completed an electrical lineman apprenticeship program.
- Considerable knowledge of overhead and underground power system facilities, including substations, switchgear, protective devices, and primary and secondary distribution equipment, is required.
- Applicant must have knowledge of principles and practices of rubber gloving, electric power system operation, State electrical safety orders and maintenance and construction standards.
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle Class "A" CDL, or the ability to obtain one within six months after employment, is required.
- Must have the ability to perform moderate to heavy physical activity and be able to work in extreme climatic conditions.
- A pre-employment physical and drug test will be required.
LMUD is located in Susanville, California, which is 85 miles north of Reno, NV, and 100 miles east of Redding, CA. The area borders the mountain tree line and the high desert. Nearby Lake Almanor and Eagle Lake provide excellent hunting, fishing and recreational opportunities.
