California Public Power Solar Energy Program Status Reports (SB1)

California Senate Bill 1 (SB 1) was passed by the State Legislature and signed into law on August 21, 2006.

The legislation requires the governing body of a local Publicly Owned Utility (POU) to adopt, implement and finance a solar initiative program for the purpose of investing in and encouraging the increased installation of, residential and commercial solar energy systems beginning January 1, 2008.

POUs are required to report on an annual basis beginning June 1, 2008, information relating to their solar initiative program(s), including the number of photovoltaic solar watts installed, the total number of photovoltaic systems installed, the total number of applicants, the amount of incentives awarded, and the contribution toward the program goals.
